FAQ
Why should I choose to use your gecko food?
Simply because it’s not just a product we sell, but it’s the food we use for our own geckos!
Our formulas were developed to satisfy the needs of specific groups of geckos. We wanted something suited for R. leachianus and M. chahoua, without leave all the other Rhacodactylus behind.
We tested the foods in our collections for two years before releasing them, adjusting when needed until we reached the result we were looking for.
Are your formula palatable for our geckos?
One of the things that we were looking for was an high palatability. We wanted our geckos to eat right away since the beginning or after just few feedings. We tried different solutions until we reached the combination of flavors that obtained the best response.
Why more proteins in leachianus and chahoua diets?
During the years we observed that our leachianus grew and bred better when we offered more proteins in their diets, like roaches and crickets or some occasional pinky. The animals eating more protein grew stronger and bigger. The same applied to chahoua, that are more prone to feed on insects.
Will it affect their health in the long run ?
The percentage of protein in our specific formulas are higher compared to other diets on the market, however still within the 30% range, so well balanced and into a safe range.
Some of our formulas have a lower protein content, like our winter diet (Leachie Lasagna) and Rhaco Risotto for all the Rhacodactylus, so they can be rotated to offer variety.
What is the protein source?
We choose to use just insect meal as protein source. The insects are raised in human grade factories and are crickets and black soldier fly larvae.
Why is the calcium percentage in the “Chewie Fettuccine” higher?
In Chewie Fettuccine we have an higher calcium percentage as chahoua lay eggs with an high calcium matrix and females tend to “crash” and develop MBD if not given a proper calcium integration.
This formula is useful for all the geckos and above all the ones laying hard shelled eggs, like Phelsuma and Ailuronyx species, but it can be again rotated with other formulas to offer variety to all the other species.
Why is your product more expensive?
Our product isn’t much more expensive compared to others on the market with the same features, considering that the insects meal has an high cost.
The weight in our products is expressed in grams so to make a price comparison you should keep in mind that and think about the price and the weight.
